Learning for the Future Makes a Happy Tiger Roar!
About Mrs. Pitchford
I am a product of Rutherford County Schools.  I went to Forest City Elementary, Dunbar Elementary, Cool Springs Middle School and graduated in 1994 from East Rutherford High School.

I went to Spartanburg Methodist College with the idea of going into radiology.  I had to do volunteer hours at an elementary school near the college.  After I taught my first lesson to a group of first graders, I knew I wanted to be a teacher.  It just felt right.  I graduated from SMC in 1996 with an Associates of Science.  In 1996, I transferred to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  I graduated summa cum laude in 1999.

My first teaching job was at James Love Elementary in the Shelby City School District.  I taught fourth grade from August to December.  In December, I interviewed for a first grade job at Ellenboro Elementary School.  I am still teaching first grade and LOVE it!

In 2002, I was accepted at Appalachian University in the Elementary Education Masters Program.  I was in a cohort that met at Isothermal Community College.  I graduated with my Masters of Elementary Education in 2004.

I continue to learn by participating in staff development, workshops and being in the classroom.  We are ALWAYS learners.
