Learning for the Future Makes a Happy Tiger Roar!
About Me

Hi, I am Laura Bridges and I teach English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher at Ellenboro Elementary. I graduated from Limestone College in 2000 with a B.A. in Elementary Education. I achieved National Board Certification in English as a New Language in 2011. In 2013, I graduated from East Carolina University with my Master's degree in English.

I work with students who speak other languages that are learning English. I use activities that promote their English language development in the areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. With that, I use the WiDA Standards that include teaching social and instructional language as well as the vocabulary and content from the areas of English language arts, social studies, math, and science. In my classroom, I use SIOP objectives for lessons that blend language and content goals for students according to their English language proficiency level.
