At the 2024-2025 Back to School Convocation, Dr. David Sutton announced Mrs. Kyla Bumgarner, Ellenboro Elementary School principal, as the 2024-2025 RCS Principal of the Year. Mrs. Bumgarner enjoys a long history and a strong personal and professional relationship with Ellenboro Elementary School. She was, in fact, a student there herself before going on to graduate some years later from East Rutherford High School. After high school, she went on to attend Limestone University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2010, and Appalachian State University, where she earned a master’s degree in school administration in 2016. She began her career as an educator where she began her journey as a student, and where she now provides outstanding leadership as the school’s principal:

Kyla Bumgarner lives in Bostic with her son, Tucker, and husband, Josh, and provides outstanding leadership within her school, our school system, and the school community. She will now advance to the regional principal of the year competition later this year.
